The AQUABOX Solution
An early AQUABOX in action
The standard AQUABOX has two functions:
It is filled with a selection of warm clothing, useful hardware and hygiene items. The actual contents depend on the individual or organisation that has donated and filled the box but may include warm clothing, kitchen utensils, toiletries, small hand tools and other general hardware. A suggested list of items to be included is set out in our brochure (see filling an AQUABOX).
It also contains a filter cartridge and a matching supply of water-treatment tablets. Once the welfare contents have been removed, each AQUABOX can be used to purify up to 1100 litres of polluted water, making it safe and pleasant to drink. As an example, 1100 litres is equal to 5,000 cups - that is enough for a family of four people (drinking 10 cups per day) for about four months.
The AQUABOX system has been exhaustively tested by an independent body proving it to be exceptionally effective in providing clean water and meeting all WHO standards.
The AQUABOX GOLD is a purely sponsored box that is filled by Aquabox with welfare items and two filter kits extend it's water purification life for one family of four to well over six months.
AQUA30 is for situations where the need is more prolonged or arises regularly, but permanent solutions cannot yet be provided. AQUA30 is supplied filled with 30 filter cartridges and the required water-treatment tablets. Typically AQUA30 is used under supervision in hospitals, clinics, schools and emergency field treatment centres.

How does the scheme work ?
A donation of £50 secures a standard AQUABOX, complete with water treatment kit which will be sent to you by Parcel Force. Additional filter sets can be ordered for a standard AQUABOX at a cost of £10 each.
The box should then be filled with the welfare items selected from the recommended list. These need not be new - clean second-hand goods are perfectly acceptable. Once filled, the box is returned to our store. We pay the cost of return via Parcel Force using their 48 hour return service and include a "Return Instruction Sheet" with each box. Filled boxes are collected from your address by ParcelForce.
The box will be logged in and held in store until a suitable emergency arises. We have developed excellent contacts with aid-agencies, who are responsible for transportation to the point of use and distribution to users. We rely absolutely on their judgement and expertise in selecting suitable applications.
Each box is numbered and this number is linked to your name. When your box has been despatched we can advise you of its destination if you quote your box number. (please see the 'where is my box' page of this web site) If you make a general enquiry please quote your receipt number using the 'feedback' page.
As an alternative, you may prefer to donate £32 to sponsor an AQUABOX to be filled by someone else. Subject to availability, these "sponsored" AQUABOXES can be made available to organisations or individuals who wish to fill them with aid items but who may be unable to fund the cost of provision. However, you will be asked to donate £18 to cover the cost of transportation.
For a donation of £80, AQUABOX GOLD is prepared by us with new welfare items. By centrally purchasing the goods on a wholesale basis, we are able to offer a very financially attractive alternative to Standard Aquaboxes since we can allocate the cost of transporting boxes for filling towards the cost of purchasing of the aid items.
AQUA30 is supplied complete with 30 filter sets but does not contain any other welfare items These are provided for a donation of £250.
